I will listen actively and speak and act respectfully to others because I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. I will treat others as I would like to be treated, because I desire justice, equity and compassion in human relations. I will respect individual religious paths, because I believe in accepting one another and encouraging spiritual growth. I will remain open to new ideas, because I believe in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. I will remember that everyone has a say in what happens in our congregation, because I believe in the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process. I will embrace others in peace, because I believe in the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all. I will live lightly on the earth, beginning with our church community, because I respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. |
