December 25th “Christmas Day”

Christmas for Unitarian Universalists means a lot of different things.  For some, it’s a big family affair, while for others the holidays are difficult due to family conflict or loss; some love the lights and colors and busy-ness, while others loathe the rampant commercialism.  But can we find something for all of us in the season, something that speaks of hope and promise to us all?

Special Service! Christmas Eve

5:00pm on December 24th: “Spirit of the Christmas Tree”

Join us for a family-friendly celebration of the Christmas story from a Unitarian Universalist perspective!  Enjoy a traditional children’s nativity pageant, carols both old and new, and the beloved ceremony of candle-lighting!

Special music will be provided by the fabulous ChorUUs and the UUFP Winds

Children's Focus

What can we say about Rudolph?

He was excluded by other reindeer. They did not let him play with them. We know that they made fun of him and his red nose. In an age where bullying is so prevalent maybe we can learn something from a favorite Christmas song.

Each Sunday we share our gifts through our collection.

This Sunday we share with:

Empower Hampton Roads is a regional coalition of faith communities committed to working with all citizens of Hampton Roads to bring justice and unity throughout the Hampton Roads Virginia region.  Vision:  As people of Faith, united in our passion for social and economic justice, we celebrate our diversity in a spirit of unity. Respecting the dignity and worth of each person among us we offer a model of TRUE community to all of our cities. We dream of a time when the cycle of poverty and dependence no longer stifles hope and creativity. We dare to dream of a region where everyone has a voice and a place at the table where decisions are made and empowerment happens."

January 1, 2012 - "Reflections on Tranquility"

Facilitated by Mary-Elizabeth Cotton
What better time  is there to reflect on tranquility in your life than after the hectic holiday season of November/December.  Based in part on the book by Elaine St. James "Inner Simplicity: 100 Ways to Regain Peace and Nourish Your Soul," the service will be somewhat informal and intimate.  Come and savor some peaceful time.

PORT FOOD DRIVE

As we approach the holidays and look forward to celebrations with friends and family, let’s reach out to those in need. The UUFP has been a partner with LINK for many years contributing funds, household goods, food and, of course, our time and skills. December is a month of family get-togethers and food. Lets be sure that others have food, too.

Please bring a can or even a bag of non-perishable food to the Fellowship on Sunday mornings through the month of December.

The winner is...

Tara Joseph!

Tara's name was drawn by the policy board to win the Kindle Fire.

Much of life is about special moments.

They can be happy moments like a marriage or college graduation or a birthday. They can also be moments of loss like the death of a relative or friend.

Using the Fellowship's memorial and honorarium fund is a great way to acknowledge these special moments. (It's easy to shop for a ten-year-old's birthday, but challenging to do it for a 60th birthday.)

When we lose someone close, it's devastating. Sending flowers to the funeral home is often the first option we think of but a memorial gift to the UU Fellowship means that the family will receive a special card from us with your name in remembrance of their loss or celebration.

It's easy and just takes a moment to click the link of your choice and fill in the information on the bottom left. We'll take care of everything else.
