From the Roy Schilling
Endowment Trustees Committee Annual Report
July 1 2007 through Jun 30, 2008
Runs on calendar year for market account purposes
Chair person:
Roy Schilling
Members:
Parker Stokes, Financial Secretary and Richard Hudgins, Recording
Secretary
Meets:
As needed several time a year.
Purpose:
To help financially support the long term mission of
Unitarian Universalism and our congregation. This endowment is a
financial resource in perpetuity, extending and enhancing our
fellowship’s capacity to fulfill its mission and purpose. It does
this by providing money for funding special projects such as
promoting social justice, arts, outreach, education and leadership
programs etc.—necessities that frequently cannot be funded by the
general revenue provided annually by the congregation's members and
friends.
The Endowment Fund is a financial account whose principal is never
spent and like an inheritance is passed on to benefit future
generations. Part of the income from investment earnings such as
interest, dividends, and capital appreciation will be spent to
enhance and support the mission of the Fellowship
The Endowment is administered by the three Trustees listed above who
act as fiduciaries.
Report:
We are ending our second year of operation and we are still in our
capital acquisition phase. We are at least three years away
from being able reach our $25,000 threshold after which we will be
able to release some of the earnings to support special projects and
the ministry of our Fellowship.
During 2006, the Endowment received its very first donation from Pat
and Steve Yaros. During 2007, the Endowment received two
unrestricted donations. The first was to honor Susanna Butler who
used to work in our nursery. The
other came from the generosity of Richard Hudgins.
The Endowment totaled $4,139.65 on December 31 2007 and gained
$139.65 interest during the year.
Goals:
The Trustees will soon be meeting with those who expressed
interested on this year’s pledge cards in making a tax deductible
donation. Please contact any of the Trustees for information on how
to remember the Fellowship in your estate plan.
