Grounds Committee Annual Report

July 1 2007 through Jun 30, 2008

Chairperson:  Ellis Remsberg

Members:  Pat Millspaw, Philip Wolf, Xavier Villarreal

Meets: The committee does not have regularly scheduled meetings, although we have met jointly with the Building Committee.

Purpose:  Maintain the lot on which the UUFP is located so that it presents a pleasant and healthful environment.

Activities:

  • The committee has kept the grass mowed, leaves raked, playground items    picked up, and the outdoor trash removed.  Its members also cleared the parking lot of leaves and gumballs occasionally.  They have kept the equipment in good working order and removed excess items from the maintenance shed.
  • Members of the committee assisted the Building Committee with the painting of the exterior of the UUFP in autumn of 2007.
  • Pat Millspaw filled in the pothole at one entrance to the parking area at UUFP.  He also erected posts and signs for several more handicapped spaces at the front parking area.
  • Jeanne Farthing and Lisa Woodman led their UUFP RE class, as they attended to the Memorial Garden area in the autumn and springtime.  Judy Remsberg attended to the general upkeep of the beds at other times.
  • The committee budget is modest (only $250) and expenses have been kept to a minimum.  That amount is needed mainly for the unforeseen repair and maintenance costs of the lawn mowing equipment and for the upkeep of the garden area.
