Purpose:  As outlined in the policy statement:  The Sunshine Committee is comprised of volunteers facilitated by chairpersons for the purpose of responding with comfort and assistance to Members and Friends facing a concern, dilemma or need.  Categories of assistance include, but are not limited to, providing of meals, rides, child care; assistance with errands, cleaning, repairs, and moving; monetary assistance in the form of funds or purchases, and telephone inquiries and support. What’s New With You is a designated subcommittee established for the purpose of celebrating achievements, commendations and milestones experienced by Members and Friends.

Activities: New volunteers are welcome at any time. Once or twice a year a flyer is put in the service program. Solicitations to join and reminders that we are here to help are put in program and/or put out by email several times a year. A basket with forms to sign up as a volunteer or to request Sunshine Committee assistance is in the lobby area at all times. Requests come from our minister or directly from members or friends of the Fellowship. Currently we have about 40 members on the list, not all of which are active in participating at any one time as each volunteer signs up to help only in specific areas .  In 2008, more should be done to solicit additional volunteers through direct contact and at Committee Day.

In 2007 the committee touched the lives of over 60 members and friends through such things as call, cards, visits, meals, assistance at home, care packages to members at the Fellowship and to members away from home for school or due to the military, rides to the Fellowship, rides to doctor appointments, and organizing receptions after memorial services.
